In preparation for the upcoming North-East monsoon, the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has proactively pruned more than 44,825 trees across the city over the past three months. This initiative targets trees that could pose a risk during heavy rains, ensuring safer conditions for residents.
GCC is also urging the public to help keep the city safe by reporting any missed trees or other service requirements through their official X (Twitter) handle.
Meanwhile, weather updates indicate a cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the central parts of the South Bay of Bengal on October 12. This development is expected to bring widespread rainfall across Tamil Nadu, with Chennai likely to experience intensified heavy downpours starting October 14.
These efforts and forecasts highlight the city`s ongoing preparations to tackle the challenges of the monsoon season effectively.
