In a move to facilitate ongoing construction for a fourth new railway line between Chennai Beach and Egmore stations, Southern Railway has announced the temporary cancellation of all EMU services operating in the Chennai Beach-Tambaram-Chengalpattu section. The cancellations will be effective in both directions from 4 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
To assist passengers affected by the cancellations, Southern Railway will operate special passenger services between Chennai Park and Tambaram, as well as between Chennai Park and Chengalpattu. A Southern Railway spokesperson noted that 40 passenger specials will depart from Chennai Park, heading towards Tambaram and Chengalpattu every 20 minutes. Additionally, 38 passenger specials will operate from Chengalpattu and Tambaram, arriving at Chennai Park station.
The modified schedule will follow the usual Sunday pattern of services for routes originating from Chennai Beach to Avadi, Tiruvallur, Arakkonam, Gummidipundi, and Sullurupeta. Southern Railway also outlined further changes:
