On Wednesday, 20th November, the state government release mentioned that housing projects worth Rs 1400 cr have been progressing under the Kalaignar Kanavu Illam Scheme and TN Rural Houses Renovation Scheme.
An amount of Rs 300 cr has been allotted in the first phase of Kalaignar Kanau Illam scheme under which the TN govt proposes to build 1 lakh new concrete based houses at Rs 3.5lakhs each in 2024-25. Point is that out of Rs 300 cr allotted for phase one, Rs 252 cr has been released to the beneficiaries through a single nodal bank account. This has been highlighted in the release from the TN government.
The release added that in addition to Rs 300 cr another amount of Rs 500 cr has been sanctioned and deposited in the bank accounts of the people. Totally, a huge amount of Rs 800 cr has been allotted under the Kalaignar Kanavu Illam Scheme.
The superb piece of information is that in the current financial year itself all the houses would be constructed and opened for public use. The house construction has been progressing well.
It is learnt that the TN government has released Rs 450 cr for the Rural Houses Renovation Scheme being executed to repair and renovate (one lakh houses constructed before 2000-01 under various housing schemes) in the current financial year. At an amount of Rs 150 cr provided by the TN govt, about 15350 works have been completed.
Now, in addition to the Rs 150 cr and amount of Rs 450 cr has also been released. It has been brought out by the release that an administration sanction would be accorded and the repair and renovation works would be completed before the end of this year.
