Cyclone to make landfall between Chennai & Pondicherry- IMD!!

On Monday, IMD or Indian Met Department mentioned that the depression in the southwest Bay of Bengal is likely to become a cyclone. The IMD predicted that the cyclone would make landfall between Chennai and Puducherry. Point to be noted is that the landfall would occur between 5:30am on 29th November and 11:30am on 30th November.

Red alert has been issued by RMC in Chennai to districts like Mayiladuthurai, Nagai, Thiruvarur, Cuddalore etc as there would be extremely heavy rains in these districts on 26th and 27th of November. Till 30th November, districts like Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Chengalpet etc would receive very heavy to heavy rains.

In the next 12 hours, the depression which is currently lying about 940km south and southeast of Chennai is likely to move north-westwards and intensify into a deep depression. In the next 2 days, it will move to Sri Lanka- TN coasts. This was according to RMC.

On Tuesday, 26th Nov, due to the possibility of extremely heavy rains, a red alert was issued to the districts of Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam and Thiruvarur.   Orange alert has been issued to districts like Villupuram, Cuddalore, Ariyalur, Thanjavur, Sivagangai and Pudukottai due to very heavy rains.

It is learnt that a yellow alert has been issued to districts like Ramnad, Trichy, Perambalur, Kallakurichi and Chengalpet etc.

On Wednesday, 27th November, a red alert was issued by RMC for districts like Cuddalore and Mayiladuthurai . Fourteen districts like Chennai, Kancheepuram, Chengalpet, Ariyalur, Thanjavur, Villupuram, Ramnad, Sivagangai, Trichy, Perambalur, Nagai, Tiruvarur, Kallakurichi and Pudukottai might get very heavy to heavy rains in the next 2 days.

From 28th to 30th of November, RMC has issued orange and yellow alerts for districts like Chennai, Kancheepuram, Chengalpet, Tiruvallur, Villupuram, Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi and Cuddalore.
