Chennai-Bengaluru Expressway: Updates on Completion, Safety, and Features

The Chennai-Bengaluru Expressway is progressing steadily, with 65% of construction completed in Tamil Nadu. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced that the remaining work is expected to be finished by August 2025.

- Current Status: Certain sections in Karnataka are open to traffic, though the expressway is not officially operational.

- Safety Advisory: NHAI warns motorists to be cautious due to incomplete stretches and discourages motorcyclists from engaging in wheeling and adventure on the expressway.

- Four-lane highway spanning 105.7 km in Tamil Nadu.
- Travel time between Chennai and Bengaluru will be reduced to 2–2.5 hours.
- Speed limit: 120 km/h.
- Infrastructure includes 34 major bridges, 31 minor bridges, and six toll plazas in Tamil Nadu.
- Cost & Inauguration: The project, costing ₹17,930 crore, will connect Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. It is expected to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi before December 2024.
