Cleaning up Elliots Beach in Chennai - Combo of Australian Consulate and Urbaser Sumeet- What’s happening now?
One of the beaches in Chennai that attracts huge crowds is Elliot’s Beach located in Besant Nagar locality. This beach is now making sensational news!!
On Thursday, 6th March 2025, the Australian Consulate General associated with Urbaser Sumeet of GCC or Greater Chennai Corporation and organised beach cleaning up. Point is that this clean up activity aligns with the 35 year old Clean up Australia Movement and Singara Chennai 2.0 for the sake of environmental responsibility and waste reduction.
It is mentioned that the Australian Consulate- General aims to inspire local action and raise awareness by bringing the initiative to Chennai city for a cleaner greener city.
According to Silaki Zaki, Australian Consul- General, it was clear that Chennai has been making superb strides in waste management. She spoke about how the initiative would motivate the public to realise and make a difference to bring out the best of Chennai.
Te event also saw the presence of important personalities like Supriya Sahu, additional chief secretary of environment, climate change and forests, Mr. Jaya Chandra Bhanu Reddy, additional commissioner of health, Mr. Ignacio Albert Gleiser, MD of Urbaser Sumeet and Mr. Mehmood Sait, CEO.
