There is some important piece of information for the aspiring engineering students in TN!!
It is now brought out that the cut-off marks for engineering admissions for the academic year 2025- 2026 would decrease. The reason was that few main subjects in class 12 such as mathematics were tough. It is known that the class12 public examinations came to an end on 25th March and on 9th May the results would be announced.
The Directorate of Technical Examinations or DOTE (that operates under the Higher Education department) would announce detailed notification for engineering admissions for the academic year after the class 12 results come out.
According to Mr. T. Purushothaman, in-charge of 2024-25 TNEA admission formalities would enter the stage for providing the merit list after student`s enrolment and other formalities. He added that students 50% mathematics marks would be considered and 25% each of Chemistry and Physics marks would be considered.
The shocking piece of information is that this year the mathematics, chemistry and physics papers were a little tough. It must be noted that the students securing centum in these subjects would be less compared to the previous year. It was explained by a person running a coaching centre in Chennai that this year`s mathematics paper was moderately tough. It is know that mathematics is the only subject where the students could get 100marks when compared to other subjects
Student`s consultant for higher education Mr. S. Natarajan mentioned that the reduction for cut-offs for the engineering courses cannot be predicted accurately as the results were not announced.
