Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi will visit Chennai today

Narendra Modi who is the BJP`s prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat chief minister will be visiting Chennai today to address the 2013 Nani Palkhivala memorial lecture at the Madras University`s centenary auditorium. Modi will also release Arun Shourie`s book "Self-deception: India China policies”. 

More than 5,000 policemen from Armed Reserve wing have been deployed for Modi`s security, with the entire campus  and Madras University Centenary Hall sanitized. Modi will also be meeting BJP state office bearers in the party office. 

Armed policemen have been deployed on high-rise buildings in the vicinity. Policemen are conducting random check of vehicles in Chennai, and lodges and hotels are being checked for suspicious elements. BJP workers will hold a reception for Modi outside Chennai airport. Party workers from Chennai, Kanchi and Thiruvallur districts have been asked to come to Chennai.
