Onion prices come down in Tamil Nadu

Onion is a very essential commodity used every day by each household. The prices of onions were sky rocketing for the last couple of months. Now the good news is prices of the staple remained at a steady 55/kg to 60/kg in retail stores in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday and Wednesday in Tamil Nadu.
A proactive stance by the state government and the CID’s food cell, which is monitoring delivery trucks, and traders associations cooperating with the authorities have helped keep the price of onions stable and at almost half the rate in Delhi. Agricultural cooperative stores marked down the price of the vegetable even further, with Kamadhenu Cooperative Supermarket in Teynampet charging 45/kg. District supply officers of the state civil supplies corporation said they are keeping tabs on traders during routine checks
