On Saturday, Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa inaugurated 163 veterinary dispensaries and two livestock disease investigation centers worth Rs. 43 crore across the state. The new facilities including a bull semen bank will strengthen available veterinary facilities across the state. Since livestock plays a vital role in the economics of the village the government has been taking all steps to provide them with quality healthcare and the newly built dispensaries are equipped with operation theatre and laboratory treatment centers.
The facility aims at catering 20 lakh livestock. Most of the new dispensaries are located in Thanjavur, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Cuddalore and Vellore districts that support good livestock population, the release said adding that the disease investigation center has been established at Krishnagiri and Virudhunagar districts at a cost of Rs. 91lakh.
