Last month marked the arrival of North East Monsoon. This is expected to intensify due to the formation of low pressure areas in the Bay of Bengal on Monday with weathermen predicting heavy rain in Tamil Nadu during the next 48 hours.
A well-marked low pressure area over southeast Bay Bengal will bring a heavy downpour in the state during the next 48 hours. This low pressure might turn into a deep depression, which is expected to move in a westerly direction.
The Met official said the sea would remain very rough along north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts during the next 48 hours.
Fishermen along north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry coasts are advised not to venture into the sea.
