The Chennai Corporation in association with education technologies brand Quest. Explore. Discover (QED) will set up as many as 20 fully- operational Science galleries with 40 + science exhibits across Chennai for students of Chennai middle schools.
Chennai Corporation Commissioner Vikram Kapur called for a total of 20 science galleries to be developed at the earliest in Chennai by QED. The Chennai Corporation already has three such galleries functioning in three zones. These are frequented by around 45 schools with around 2,000 students and 60 teachers. A fourth gallery is scheduled to open this month in Adyar.
The rest of the 20 galleries will be planned across the different zones of the Chennai Corporation. The Commissioner called for the opening of some of them before the end of this year.
Each of the galleries has 40 plus exhibits meant for middle schools students. The exhibits will be coordinated with the school curriculum and will be put up on a term to term basis according to the syllabus. The centre will also have a resource person to maintain and run the centre.
