In 2014, Milad un-Nabi and Pongal will be on the same day Tuesday,January 14. Four festivals fall on Sundays. But government employees can expect some respite in the form of an extended weekend in October. They will get four holidays, including Saturday and Sunday, besides Gandhi Jayanti and Ayudha Puja, on October 2 (Thursday) and Vijaya Dasami on October 3 (Friday). Bakrid is on the following Sunday. But they will lose two days as Gandhi Jayanti and Ayudha Puja are on the same day and Bakrid is on a Sunday (October 5).
This is in contrast to the current year, when in January there were 13 holidays.
