The Chennai Corporation has decided to commence the work on Kodambakkam flyover, built in 1965, from November 23. The traffic police have announced that there will be diversions around the flyover and warned that it is going to be a “hassle” for road users.

The contractor has asked to close the flyover completely for two months. After discussions with corporation officials and experts, it was concluded that the work could be done by regulation of traffic, especially on Saturdays and Sundays

The diversions may last for two months. Two-wheelers and light motor vehicles will be allowed to use the flyover from 6am to 10pm on weekdays. However, they will have to take the detours on weekends, like all heavy vehicles will for the entire duration of the project.

After Kodambakkam flyover, the corporation will repair Mint flyover.
