Increase in expenses
There has been a steady increase in prices of diesel, customs taxes, tyres, insurance, and the drivers’ wages day-by-day. But there has been no raise in the rental rates paid by both the private and public enterprises. It has become extremely difficult to pay the rent to the truck owners. Ib turn, due to the non-payment of the monthly installment of the loans, the financial ending agencies have confiscate over 1, 30,000 truck all over South India in all the states.

Strike on 20th December
Under the above circumstances, goods have not been delivered on time for several private and public institutions. Hence, there will be a token strike on 20th December demanding an increase of rental rates by 20 to 22%. Over 50 lakhs goods trucks would not run on this day all over South India in the states of Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Pondicherry.
