Corporation of Chennai will take efforts to strengthen nine flyovers in the city. The work on the flyovers, constructed more than 12 years ago, will involve replacing strip seal expansion joints.
As part of the exercise, work on the flyovers at Pantheon Road-Casa Major Road junction in Egmore and Doveton Junction in Purasawalkam began on Friday night. For the next 20 days, the two flyovers will be closed to traffic between 10pm and 6am. Motorists can use service roads adjoining the flyovers at night and during the day, temporary ramps will be provided over the newly-replaced expansion joints.
