One-year extension period for the current ration cards

The current ration cards, bound to expire by 31st December, have been another year’s extension. There has already been one extension and this is the second.
The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has issued orders to this effect. Electronic cards are expected to be distributed only in 2014-15.
