Koyambedu market : Jasmine prices soar at Rs. 1000/- per kg

With the shortfall in the arrival of Jasmine from different places, to Koyambedu, it was sold at Rs. 1000 per kg. Jasmine is brought from Attuppakkam , Padappai, Periyapalayam, Arikkampetu, Gummidipundi, Mannivakkam, Chengalpattu, and Tindivanam.
During the season, up to 5 tons of jasmine were delivered at Koyampedu. With the recent snowfall and wintry weather, production has come down and there is a reduction in the quantity delivered at Koyampedu. Because of this, jasmine was sold at Rs. 1000/- per kg as against the normal rate of Rs. 200 to Rs. 300/-.
