Chennaites get ready for some visual and auditory delights this weekend when Shaastra, IIT Madras’ tech fest, begins. There will be air shows, 3D displays and an event with virtual instruments.Among the highlights of the four-day event that begins on Saturday will be Envisage, a tech show that will have a music performance where students will play instruments without touching them, and a 3D show called the Persistence of Vision.
The air show where 3Dfliers Marian Mader, Gunther Gold and Wolfgang Krahofer will be displayed is expected to be a big draw.The finals of the Lunar Rover Challenge will be held here. Students who design the best robotic craft will assist Team Indus, which is designing a craft that could be sent to the moon in 2015 as part of the Google Lunar X Prize contest.
There will be
lectures by eminent personalities, including Michael Meyer, lead scientist of
NASA’s Curiosity Mars Rover Project, and Richard Stallman, pioneer of Open
Source Software.
