Chennai Corporation has decided to furnish the new grid system of roads in several areas of the city which lacks good road amenities.
Total cost of Rs. 400 Crores, the roads are planned to be laid in Tiruvottiyur,
Manali, Madhavaram, Ambattur, Valasaravakkam, Alandur and Perungudi under the grid-III
of the State-funded Integrated Grid Development program.
Along with
this plan, various civic amenities like a storm water drain, cable duct,
stainless steel name boards and street lights, will also be included.
A higher
official from the Corporation states that, the civic body has already completed
the work under grid-I for the cost of Rs.380 Crores, which covers the Tiruvottiyur,
Manali, Madhavaram, Ambattur, Valasaravakkam, Alandur, Perungudi and
Sholinganallur areas. The work of grid-II of cost Rs.350 Crores is executed in
15 zones. Due to pending work of the Water pipeline work in Sholinganallur, it
will be covered under the grid-III plan.
Apart from
the usual road construction work, this course will cover all the comprehensive
framework like providing the cable ducts, cable cross ducts and tiled
footpaths.
Because of
these added advanced works, it will not be in need of further road cuts in
the future for a longer period of time, he guaranteed.
