40th India Tourism and Trade Fair inaugurated at the Island Grounds

B. Valarmathi, Minister for Social Welfare and Noon Meal Scheme,  inaugurated the 40th India Tourism and Trade Fair at the Island Grounds on Monday. S.P. Shanmuganathan, Tourism Minister, said the fair would be on till March 17. Last year, nearly 13.21 lakh visitors came to the fair and this year, the number is expected to touch 15 lakh. The ticket fare for adults is Rs.15 and Rs. 10 for children. Rs. 5 will be collected from school students.
 
29 State government departments, 13 State government undertakings and two Central government departments have put up stalls. At the Corporation pavilion, death and birth certificates would be issued. The Reserve Bank of India has taken up a pavilion where members of the public can exchange soiled, old, and damaged notes/coins. B. Valarmathi, Minister for Social Welfare and Noon Meal Scheme, said various welfare schemes implemented by the government would be explained at the stalls, which would be very useful to the visitors.
