All the 5 new thermal power projects recently commissioned have started generating and contributing power to the Tamil Nadu power grid.

The generation stations are: 2 additional units at North Chennai, 2 units of Vallur Power Plant, and 1 unit of the Mettur Thermal Power station. They have added 1750 MW  to the grid.

Shortage of coal and some technical reasons were the reasons for the delay in generating.2 units at Vallur and the new unit at Mettur are now ready for commercial generation. The unit at North Chennai will be ready shortly. During the last week, there has been a great improvement in the power supply position.
