The Meteorological department has predicted that there will be moderate to heavy rain in many places over Ramanathapuram, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Kanyakumari, Thanjavur , Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam districts. This is due to the depression over Sri Lanka weakened on Tuesday and lay as a “well marked low pressure area” over the island and the adjoining Gulf of Mannar.
Isolated light to moderate rain may occur over south interior Tamil Nadu and fair weather will prevail over the remaining districts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
Strong winds with speed reaching 30-50 km per hour will prevail along and off south Tamil Nadu coast. Sea conditions will be rough. Fishermen along and off south Tamil Nadu coast are warned against venturing into the sea.
In Chennai city, sky conditions will be partly cloudy in the next few days.
