37th edition of the Chennai Book Fair to begin tomorrow

The Booksellers and Publishers Association of South India (BAPASI) will be organizing the 37th edition of the Chennai Book Fair from January 10 to 22 at the YMCA College of Physical Education, Nandanam. 
 
The book fair, which will be set up across 2 lakh square feet, will feature 777 stalls selling books in various languages and subjects. The entry fee will be Rs. 10, but children below the age of 12 will have free entry.
 
A special application for Android and Apple phones has been developed for the daily program, titles carried by various publishers and the location of the stalls.
 
Meenakshi Somasundaram. M, president of BAPASI, said a total of 7 lakh free tickets will be issued to school students. “A 10 per cent discount will be given to everyone to promote reading. Drawing and elocution competitions for students will also be conducted,” he said.
 
The fair will also have facilities such as free pickups and drops at the entrance of the venue, drinking water, a food court, ATM machines, a resting area as well as wheelchair and ambulance services for visitors.
 
A blood donation camp has also been organised. Ten ‘Namma’ autorickshaws will be available at the venue for the benefit of visitors.
 
Book launches and lectures by eminent personalities will also be held daily between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Visitors will be informed about the following day’s program through text messages.
