Vaikunta Ekadasi will be celebrated on 11th January at Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple premises in Srirangam.

A temple outpost has been opened on Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple premises in Srirangam.

The outpost has been provided with all the necessary facilities. Police sources said a comprehensive security scheme has been prepared in connection with the festival.

Besides deploying the Tiruchi police personnel, additional manpower would be drawn from neighbouring districts to augment security and crowd management on January 10 and 11 in and around the temple areas. Around 3,000 police personnel are expected to be deployed on those two days, which include seven to eight Superintendents of Police of neighbouring districts. The overall security arrangements would be monitored by Commissioner of Police Shailesh Kumar Yadav. Teams of police personnel would be deployed at different places in the town for regulation of vehicular traffic entering and leaving Srirangam town.

Officers would be posted outside the temple to regulate crowd movements.

In addition to surveillance cameras already fixed, the city police would seek the installation of additional cameras to cover more areas within and outside the temple, said the police sources.
