The Regional Passport office does not accept the bank statements of private and foreign banks for proof of residence. The reason for this is that private banks do not properly verify the proof of residence. Regional Passport Officer C Senthil Pandian said bank statements or passbooks of only nationalized banks were being accepted as proof.
The list of banks whose statements or passbooks can be submitted as address proof are Allahabad Bank, Andhra Bank, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Corporation Bank, Dena Bank, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Punjab National Bank, Punjab and Sind Bank, Syndicate Bank, Union Bank of India, United Bank of India, UCO Bank, Vijaya Bank, IDBI Bank, SBI, State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur, State Bank of Patiala, State Bank of Hyderabad, State Bank of Mysore and State Bank of Travancore.
