Jayalalithaa had yesterday allocated funds for improving the road
infrastructure in Ramanathapuram and Tiruvallur districts, besides instructing
that the new canals constructed in Pochampalli taluk of Krishnagiri district
should be put to use for the benefit of the people.
The Chief Minister allocated Rs 6.50
crore towards laying a by-pass road along the bank of Vaigai river flowing
adjacent to Paramakudi in Ramanathapuram to ease traffic congestion. The 3.60
km by-pass road will be laid parallel to the national highway along Paramakudi.
Kochi-Dhanushkoti NH and
Thanjavur-Sayalkudi State Road are passing through Paramakudi and the people
living around the town are visiting this town. As a result, the town has been
facing traffic congestion. The Chief Minister has allocated Rs 1.20 crore for constructing a bridge across
Sorancherry village on the bank of Coovum river in Tiruvallur, to connect both
the banks of Coovum river at this point and help the people of Sorancherry to
cross it during rainy season.
The Chief Minister has already granted
Rs 6.50 crore for constructing a new
canal from Palekuli lake in Krishnagiri to provide water supply to 28 lakes in
Pochampalli taluk. The works for providing water to 25 lakes have been already
completed, the Chief Minister has allowed the release of water to these lakes.
Jayalalithaa has allocated Rs 1.75 crore
for constructing a supply canal from Viruppampatti lake in Pochampalli taluk to
provide water to the five lakes and a pond. She also permitted to open the
supply canal.
