MTC: 763 new buses to ply in the City

The Metropolitan Transport Corporation has decided to run 763 new buses. Currently, 3,637 are in operation. The Unified MTC Board Committee decided to raise this 4000 during a meeting.
It has been estimated
that an additional 1500 buses are required. In the first stage, 1064 buses will
be purchased while taking the old buses off the road.
T Nagar and
Thiruvanmiyur bus depots will be renovated. Bus services will be extended to
Perumbakkam and Kannagi Nagar. These will be completed shortly.
New bus depots are
planned to be constructed at Gummidipoondi. Thaiyur, and Velacheery. Lands are
being acquired.
Over 50 Lakh
commuters avail MTC services and they have complained about the old buses to be
repaired.
