Tamil Nadu has 4 different educational systems up to high school level including State Board, Matriculation, and Anglo-Indian system. Later, Balanced Education system was implemented.
Except for the State Government Schools, all other schools function with the same names. The state government has planned to change this, For example, ‘St. Mary’s Matriculation High School’ will be changed to ‘St. Mary’s High School’.
All other schools except the government primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools such as Self-financed Primary schools and Self-financed Higher secondary schools will be under the control of Self-financed Education Directorate.
All matriculation schools under the matriculation education board will come under the Self-financed Education Directorate. The classification of students as ‘rich’ and ‘poor’ will be removed and equality among all students is expected.Educationists have welcomed this.
