Health Minister, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad has confirmed that there are no plans to extend the course duration for MBBS. He had a discussion with the medical students who were protesting against the proposed extension of MBBS course duration. He also confirmed that he had instructed to shelve the proposal for the compulsory service at villages after medical graduation.
Earlier, there was information that the MBBS courses may be extended by 2 years. There was also a stipulation for the medical students to work at least for one year in villages immediately after completing the course. The students of Delhi FMS college protested. After the assurance from te Health Minister, they have announced they have stopped the protest.
