Chennai Omandurar Garden building complex has been converted and rebuilt into a multi super-specialty hospital. With international standards, the hospital is intended to provide high quality treatment to the poor.
Rs. 634 Crores was allotted to PWD for this project. Apart from the ground floor, there are 6 more floors. Wars, Operation theatres, laboratories, and offices have been provided.
Fully air-conditioned, the hospital is furnished with the latest equipment worth Rs. 76 Crores. The equipment (MRI scanners, CT Scanners) are even more advanced than some private hospitals in the city. 400 patients can be treated. The hospital has 3 advanced labs, diagnostic centres, X-ray departments, bacteriology, etc.
High quality speciality treatment will be available for neurology diseases, neurosurgery, heart operations, angioplasty, cancer, etc. Medical specialists in various departments have been appointed.
Battery cars are available. 500 toilets are available. Separate visitors’ lounge is provided.
The hospital will be dedicated to public service on 21st February by the Chief Minister, J. Jayalalithaa.
