For those who love music, here is an excellent opportunity from the NGO, Madras Youth Choir. This is the brainchild of renowned music composer M B Sreenivasan or MBS. The NGO has planned to organize choral music classes for people belonging to the age group 15 to 25. The classes will include compositions of Bharathiyar, Bharathidhasan, Rabindranath Tagore, etc.
Breathing techniques and voice culture are other exclusive trainings they’d avail during the sessions. These songs will impart western harmonic techniques in Indian classical and folk music idioms. The organization aims to promote various choral singing techniques and experiment with fusion of several singing methods - Indian classical, western music, light classical, etc. In a press release from the NGO, they’ve mentioned that MBS’s choral pieces are being preserved as a testimony to the composer’s quality works.
The classes will commence on 2nd March. The classes will be conducted between 2 pm and 3.30 pm on all sundays. Classes would begin on 2nd March at Children’s garden school, Mylapore.
