Complaints on SMS can be sent 24 hours to Chennai Police Control Room

Complaints can be sent to the Chennai Police Control Centre which will be passed on immediately to the concerned Police Inspector for prompt action.
Presently, receiving of grievance / complaint / petition letters from the public has been stopped at the Police Commissioner’s Office as per High Court Order. Public has been asked to make the complaints at the police stations in their locality.
However, there are people who are averse to going to Police stations who go to the Commissioner’s Office. These are immediately directed to the concerned Police Stations. If the petition concerns Central Crime Branch, it is directed to the CBI.
The system of receiving complaint SMS to the Chennai Police Control Centre is in operation. However, women hesitate to complain regarding eve-teasing or sexual assault.
However, women can send SMS to 95000-99100. This service is available for 24 hours in the day. Immediate action will be taken.
