AIADMK`s VNP Venkatraman won the Alandur byelection by a margin of 18,708 votes against DMK`s R S Bharathi.

Venkatraman [AIADMK] - 89,295 votes

Bharathi [DMK] - 70, 587 votes

Kamaraj [DMDK] -20439 votes
