The District Election Officer and Chennai Corporation Commissioner, Vikram Kapur, while addressing the press persons informed said they will set up 3254 polling stations in 3 parliamentary constituencies. This will cover Chennai’s sixteen assembly segments. “Details about vulnerable and critical stations are collected by inquiring the residents. These will be corrected very soon,” he assured. He added that such vulnerable polling stations account for more than 75 per cent of vote for a single candidate.
122 such stations are identified in the Chennai Central Parliamentary constituency out of which 38 are in Egmore assembly segment, 88 of them belong to South Chennai and 45 in North Chennai constituencies. Out of the entire count, 25 are critical ones. Complains pertaining to election malpractices or of the kind can be reported using the toll free number, 1800-425-7012 which will be launched shortly. Electors’ cash disposal vehicles will be under the scanner, Mr. Kapur notified.
