With the increase in the temperature in the city, the need for power naturally gets higher. Ahead of this, Tangedco, the state power utility is not instructed to approach Maharashtra Electricity Board to get advice on how to tackle the crisis situation. In order to study the model adopted in Maharashtra, a committee will be set up. This will include:
- Tangedco representatives
- State load dispatch centre, TNERC’s authorized consumer representatives
- Tamil Nadu Electricity Consumer’s joint council
- Coimbatore district small scale industries association (Codissia)
It is to be remembered that Maharashtra faced a similar power shortage before few years, but now they have overcome those problems and got surplus supply of power. They followed methods to reduce the transmission charges and have adopted new measures to improve the supply. The idea to follow the Maharashtra’s method was proposed by an advocate in a public hearing at TNERC on 27th February.
