Many people will be surprising about the effect of the artificial sweetener, on how a single capsule sweetens a cup of coffee / tea as equal to two spoons of sugar.

Aspartame is a non-natural food sweetener which was created nearly about 50 years ago, and is commonly used as a sugar substitute in India. Also it will be incorporated in the production of many soft drinks.

But then, diabetologist snubs the use of artificial sweetener for children and pregnant women. There are medical controversies entangled and many countries have banned Aspartame fully, as it is 200 times sweetening effect than sugar.

As per many studies, Aspartame have been completely stopped in incorporating it in soft drinks, as it causes cancers and lead the main reason for premature birth.

Many Diabetologists suggests taking up Sucralose, instead of Aspartame as it is a natural item.

While cooking with Aspartame, the chemical compounds in it breaks down, hence we recommends Sucralose for cooking purposes, says diabetologist Anand Moses.

The European Food Safety Authority in their extensive study concluded that pregnant women and children are permitted to have only sugar and not artificial sweeteners.

Children with diabetics are allowed to take half a teaspoon of sugar; adults recommend involving 5gm/day, stated Vijay Viswanathan, managing director, M.V. Hospital for Diabetes, Rayapuram.
