Tamil Nadu Physical Education & Sports University has planned to introduce the scheme of admission through counselling on a single-window system as practised for engineering courses.
There are 3 Physical Education Colleges with Government assistance and 11 private physical education colleges in Tamil Nadu.
B. PEd. (Bachelor of Physical Education) and M. PEd. (Master of Physical Education) are offered.
Each college has 40 seats for B. PEd. & 30 seats for M. PEd.
Government funded colleges are self-governing. All the colleges come under the Tamil Nadu Sports & Physical Education University.
Single-window system
Candidates will have to apply individually to the particular college they wish to join. If they select more than one, they have to apply separately to the chosen colleges.
‘Cut-off’ marks will vary from college to college.
If the candidates are doubtful of admission in one college, they tend to apply to more colleges incurring additional expenses.
Considering these aspects, Tamil Nadu Sports & Physical Education University has started analysing whether to introduce single-window counselling system for B. PEd. & M. PEd. Courses as practised for Engineering Courses, M. E., M.B.A., and M.C.A.
It has submitted this proposal to the government for approval. It has also approached the State Technical Education Directorate to know more about the single-window system.
In case this proposal is approved, the students need to apply only once specifying their preferred college.
