FRONTIER HOSPITAL PERFORMED RARE TWIN HEART TRANSPLANTATION

Dr. K.M.Cherian, Chairman, Frontier hospital lead a team of doctors to perform heart transplantation on two patients simultaneously, both hailing from Chennai on Friday last. Hearts donation coordinated by Apollo Hospital and General Hospital. Dr Cherian while talking the news persons termed the Twin transplantations on the same was an exceptional coincidence. It was the mechanical aspects in terms coordination and logistics management were the real challenge, even though the transplant procedure was straight forward, said Dr Cherian. He appreciated the cooperation of the Police in facilitating the smooth transit for the teams to reach the theatre in time. This only the third time after in Newyork in 2001 and Newcastle in 2009 that the dual transplants has been reported.
