University, S Kalliappan that the university has decided to start B E
Geo-Informatics from coming academic year
in its Tirunelveli center. The
University is already offering two-year M.Tech. and Ph.D. program in Geo
Informatics and it has become the only technical institution outside Anna
University-Chennai in the State to offer this program. S kalliappan who is a
former head of Center for Remote Sensing said that the students of the center
have impressed the scientist in ISRO, Bangalore
and National Remote Sensing Agency, Hyderabad.
Colleges affiliated to the University in Palayankottai, Nagerkoil and Tuticorin
will admit 120 students from the coming year. The vice Chancellor added that
necessary infrastructure and faculty are already in place. Highly sophisticated
research facility is going to be established with the help of ISRO, Kalliappan
added. “Students of BE and M.Tech. and research scholars of Geo Informatics
will have the rare opportunity of handling the high-end gadgets, normally used
in the space research establishments across the globe,” Dr. Kaliappan said.
