Railway Passenger fares up by 14.2%, freight by 6.5%

Railway passenger fares has increased by 14.2 per cent in all classes while freight charges went up by 6.5 per cent with effect from today.
With only 20 days to go for presenting the budget, the increased train fares have been announced.
How will this be implemented?
The passengers who have reserved in advance will have to pay the balance to the Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) and get receipt for the same.
