The subsidy included
Rs.6.25 lakh to 11 sericulture farmers for construction of separate silkworm
rearing sheds. The subsidy constituted 50 per cent of the unit cost or a
maximum of Rs.50, 000 per farmer in the case of a shed of 1,000 square feet, or
Rs.75, 000 in the case of a shed with an area of 1,500 square feet, whichever
was lower. The Collector also gave away cheques for Rs.3.75 lakh, as subsidy to
84 beneficiaries by way of incentive for planting high-yielding mulberry
varieties.
