According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) regulations, the calling card organizations which will be the global long distance operators (ILDO) will shell out only 40 paise per minute to wireless telecom companies so as to approach their customers.
By controlling the calling charges, the calling cards companies ought to facilitate ISD calls to major countries on a standard of Rs 2 to Rs 10 per minute to mobile user hostile to the present tariff charges of Rs 8 to Rs 30 per minute charged by the telecom companies, said the sources from the TRAI.
TRAI revealed that because of huge margins benefited by the telecom service contributors on the ISD calls, they have been limiting calling cards facility for ISD calls since last 14 years.
As indicated by the TRAI data, for making the US calls the customer has to pay Rs 8 per minute and the ILDO is paid only Rs 0.65 per minute. The telecom service provider’s margin obtainable is Rs 7.35 per minute.
