The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) regulator will ask for the public views on issues linked to the compression of broadband across the country within the end of next month, says Rahul Khullar, the Trai chairman.
The Trai is also setting up to hand out a consultation paper to argue about regulatory framework in the region of Over-The-Top (OTT) players such as WhatsApp, Skype, Viber, WeChat, etc.
The OTT players allow free calls and messaging amenities, making it inexpensive for consumers to employ them. Telecom subscribers ought to pay just the internet charges to their operators for utilizing OTT services.
During his discussion on the marginal of the telecom submit arranged by Assocham, Mr. Khullar said that according to the process, Trai will check with the public prior framing any proposal for a new sectoral scheme. Following to that, the regulator will drive its counsels to government for plan formulation.
Telecom operators have been approaching for a regulatory framework all-around OTT player as they see products like Skype, WhatsApp, and Viber etc as opponents who are biting telecoms profits in voice call and messaging section.

Soon, the discussion paper related to rollout of broadband services in the country will be hand out by next month end, said the Trai chairman.
