With the objective of enhancing the competency level of teachers in
managing ICT-integrated course curriculum, Teachers across the State will be
trained in application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the
teaching-learning process through collaboration between Indira Gandhi National
Open University and the ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu (ICTACT).Training programmes
to be conducted in 17 districts under Madurai region
A Memorandum of Collaboration[MOC] to this effect has been signed with IGNOU. Poongothai, Minister
for Information Technology and V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai, Vice-Chancellor, IGNOU
were present during signing of the MOU.
Dr. Rajasekharan Pillai stressed in his speech that technology integration in teaching-learning activities was essential. “Teachers should understand ICT tools and quality of education can be enhanced only if they know how to implement them. Ultimately it will benefit the students.
The training programmes will be conducted in various places with a
time-bound action plan and definitive targets. The university`s
The ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu is a consortium of Government of India,
Government of Tamil Nadu and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). It
already has a tie-up with universities in the State to train faculty members of
conventional colleges.
