On-line shopping is the current trend. Almost all items are being sold on-line!
There are many on-line shopping providers and certain factors are to be considered while deciding about on-line purchase:
Return Policy – this is an important aspect. Items like clothing or footwear may not be of proper fit and there must be a facility to return & get the replacement. Read the rules carefully. You need to send a mail detailing your problems while taking care not to damage the item.
Shipping Cost and Time –this is another important aspect. On-line services offer free shipping of even bigger items like TV, fridge, and washing machines. If shipping is charged separately, better to drop purchase from that site. An exception is the eBay website as it is an arrangement by several companies likely to charge extra for shipping. If your place is rather remote, ensure that the items are delivered by registered post.
Shopping time – Maximum shopping time should not exceed 15 days. For metro cities, shopping time should be only 3-4 days. Keep track of your consignment through sms.
Cash Back - It happens sometimes that you change your mind after ordering an item & want to cancel it and probably buy another item. So, please check whether there is a provision for cancelling the ordered items. Ensure that you get back all your money.
Product Quality & Customer Review – Generally, only good quality products are sold on-line. Manufacturing warranty is given. It is better to check this. It is better to go through the ‘Consumer review’ section of the on-line website to know more about the product you are ordering.
Payment Options – There are many paying options. Please check the security aspect on the payment mode you select. Check whether the web site address starts with ’HTPPS’. If there is no S and only HTPP, avoid ordering. Cash on delivery is a safe option. Also, if selecting EMI mode of payment, please ensure that there are no processing charges.
Other aspects – Note the free items on offer. Keep your e-mail correspondence till receipt of material.
