Retailers Association Opposes Online Shopping

Online Shopping is increasing day by day. People like to purchase more through online modes than by visiting showrooms the reason being convenience and low prices.

Understanding this, Google is conducting a mega ‘Google online shopping festival’ from today for the next three days. More than 400 companies participate in this three days sale. Nexus 6 and other new products are to be introduced in this festival. Similarly, Flipkart is conducting a three days discount sales for purchases through mobile apps from December 8th.

Companies and online shopping portals can easily afford to sell products lesser than its purchase price because they have no extra overhead expenditures of running a shop physically, and they deal with the manufacturers directly. However, this affects the shop owners to a very large extent. Hence, Retailers Association of India has written a letter to the Ministries of Finance and Commerce requesting to form rules and regulations for selling products online.
