Will ATM service get disturbed by the new Jandhan scheme?

So far, 8.33 Crore individuals have opened bank savings accounts under the Prime Minister Jandhan Yojana.
5.85 Crore individuals have been given ATM cards.
The Ministry of Finance expects that around 10 Crore individuals will be given ATM cards by 26th January.
However, presently there are only 1.67 Lakh ATMs in the country.
Hence, there might be problems to be encountered in the ATM services
ATM manufacturers have indicated to the banks that an additional 20000 ATMs would be immediately required.
An official from the private banking sector on ATMs informed that it cannot be expected that everyone receiving ATM cards from Jandhan scheme will use the ATMs. Hence, no major problems are likely to be encountered.
