Healthy Food Recipes - Lemon Rasam

Ingredients:
  • Toor Dal – ¼ cup
  • Tomato – 2 nos (small)
  • Lemon – 1 or 2 spoon of juice
  • Red Chilli- 2 nos
  • Mustard Seeds – ¼ spoon
  • Asafoetida – a pinch
  • Curry leaves – a few
  • Cooking oil – 1 spoon
  • Salt – as required
To Grind:
  • Pepper Balls – 1 spoon
  • Cumin Seeds – 1 spoon
  • Ginger – ½ inch long
  • Garlic – 4 cloves
Method:
  1. Pressure cook Toor dal with a pinch of turmeric powder until soft. Mash it well and keep it aside.



  2. Or just the boiled Toor dal water is sufficiently more than enough.
  3. Mix the tomato juice extract with the Toor dal boiled water.
  4. Grind pepper, cumin seeds, skin removed ginger, garlic in a mixer to a coarse powder without the addition of water.
  5. Heat the pan with a spoon of oil and add the mustard seeds and curry leaves. Don’t allow it to roast well. 



  6. Add splinted red chilli and add the grinded Rasam paste into it.
  7. Now add the boiled Toor dal and tomato juice extract mixture to it.



  8. Then add the required salt and a pinch of Asafoetida and allow it to boil for some time.



  9. Then switch off the flame and add the lemon juice.
  10. Sprinkle the chopped coriander leaves for garnishing.



  11. Hot Lemon Rasam is ready to serve!





Note:
  • Keep in mind that Rasam should be boiled only on low flame for it to taste delicious.
  • So as to avoid the floating of oil on top layer of the dish, temper cumin and mustard seeds initially and add the tomato extract on top of it.
  • It is advisable to add the lemon juice, once you switch off the flame.
