EMPOWERMENT OF SOUTH-EAST ASIAN WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS: A CALL BYSAARC CHAMBER PRESIDENT.

Annisul Huq, president, SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry delivered the inaugural address on the third day of the SAARC Chamber Women Entrepreneur Council (SCWEC) Global Business Meet and Exhibition, in CHENNAI on Monday. Mr.   Huq was emphasizing empowerment of women entrepreneurs. He explained that the women entrepreneurs in South-East Asian countries should be given more opportunities. The governments, he said should include such policies and programmes that empower women entrepreneurs. The challenges that the women entrepreneurs face are financial impediments, Training of appropriate skills and infrastructure. They should be encouraged and helped to overcome the problems through networking and promotion of SMEs.
 
Annisul Huq presented the SCWEC Women Entrepreneur Excellence Award to Sunanda Weerasinghe Chennai on Monday. U.S. Consul General in Chennai Andrew T. Simkim and Chairperson of SCWEC V.L. Indira Dutt were present in the function.

V.L. Indira Dutt, Chairperson, SCWEC, said the three-day meet was an opportunity for member countries to network and exchange ideas.

SCWEC Women Entrepreneur Excellence Award was presented to 12 women entrepreneurs from the SAARC countries.
